8 Years After: Outgoing Chairman Daini’s Disciples, Stakeholders Examine His Doctrines, Impacts

A few days to his final exit from the office as the Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) after eight years in the saddle, the doctrines, ideas and impacts of Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini, have been examined at a forum organized by his disciples as part of activities winding down his administration as the Executive Chairman.

Daini’s transformational impacts, political doctrine and plans for the future were discussed at a special valedictory session which took place at the Omega Hall, Caritas Events Centre, along Ibeshe Road on Thursday.

The event was themed, “An Evening with Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini, the Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA”, where an initiative by the council boss’ disciples – Builders’ Fellowship, which is a community – based initiative was unveiled and which the outgoing chairman has embraced as a project that he would invest upon and use to further impact after his exit from the office.

The celebrant arrived at the event venue at 6:35pm to a guard of honour after which he was ushered in with aluta songs by the state and council officials of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) led by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Development and the former State NYCN Chairman, Comrade Lekan Biliamin Oba.

In his chat with reporters, the celebrant, Builder Daini, commended the organisers for putting together what he described as a big surprise and a challenge to continue his political and community activities beyond office.

“It is a very big surprise for me. I wasn’t expecting it. They only told me that they are launching an initiative. I never knew that its something this elaborate.

“This type of programme is always scary to me because it’s a call for more tasks; more responsibilities and a call to remind me that a lot of people are watching me and I must not let them down.

“Therefore, I feel so good and honoured to be celebrated, but scared about what the future has, not a fear of success but in terms of not letting people down,” he said.

On the fellowship initiative which he welcomed and promise to sustain, the outgoing chairman said that he intends to use the platform to impact 100 children 100 days after his exit from the office.

“I love it and appreciate the brain behind it. When he discussed the idea with me I never knew that it was this elaborate but it gives me an opportunity to continue to reach out to people, the needy and to support my community and even outside the Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA. It is an idea that I am going to put a lot into and make sure that the fellowship that we just inaugurated today impacts a lot of life and transform lots of people

“I want to see a lot of children growing up and remembering what Builders’ Fellowship has contributed to their successes. I want to see community say thank you to the fellowship.

“I will also use the platform to reach out to the elderly ones. So, it was what I have been thinking about; I love impacting people’s lives and this is a very good opportunity for me. Thank God that I have people who are going to work with me.

“I want to impact children 100 days after leaving office and I will call you to celebrate with me after impacting those children,” Daini revealed.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary Education, Mr Waheed Kasali, the guest speaker at the session described Daini as a 21st century solution provider and a young man vast in his knowledge of his environment.

He commended his impact on Igbogbo/Baiyeku in the last eight years especially in the area of building monuments and institutions.

The top government official also acknowledged his sense of details on engaging issues and averred that he still has a promising future ahead of him after office as the chairman of the council.

Speakers that participated in the two sessions – Daini’s Doctrine and Brics, examined his life, political philosophy and impacts as an administrator.

The outgoing Chairman’s sister, Mrs Bola Bankole, described him as someone that has shown leadership traits from his childhood and a shining star.

She also said that he’s a problem solver and cares for his family and people.

Dr Adeleke Dankuwo, President, Igbogbo Youth Forum (IYF) said that he (Daini) has contributed his own quota and impact within his own capacity.

Retired FIFA badge referee and revenue officer, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Mr Ogunmuyiwa Jelili, commended him for the introduction of reformd into the council’s revenue system and described him as a result- oriented person.

The Council Manager, Apapa LG, in his own assessment described his working relationship with him as a wonderful experience.

While also stating that he’s a good manager, the senior council official who once served under Builder Daini, also added that he always carries everybody along in his decisions.

The Executive Chairman, Ijede LCDA who has just been re -elected for another term, Hon. Motuntayo Gbadebo -Alogba in her own remarks described his outgoing colleague as a good ambassador and a worthy friend of hers.

Mayor Muhydeen Sanwoola, a Governor’s aide and a political strategist, while stating that there should be other fora where Daini’s doctrine would be properly examined, also stated that the impact of his eight years administration will not be felt until a year or two after his exit from the office.

While also stating that Builder Daini is always ‘guiding’ in the complex political circle where he tried to survive, Mayor Sanwoola, explained and emphasised that he does that because, “People are not seeing his actions but his reactions.”

He concluded the session noting that he would still be appreciated in future the way he should be.

In the second part – His Brics, which dealt with his impacts on the community and its people, Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo, Education Secretary (ES), Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Ikorodu Local Government, speaking on Builder Daini’s impact on education emphasised that his footprints on primary education in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.

He said that he either built or facilitated building of new structures.

While narrating his encounters with him, the Education Secretary said that the outgoing Chairman always handle issues in ways far above his age and thanked him for his presentation to leaders which supported his employment as the ES

Vice Chairman, Ikorodu LG, Hon. Folashade Oba, described the outgoing council chairman as a life transformer, builder of infrastructure and one of the greatest assets of Ikorodu Division.

Comrade Lekan Biliamin Oba, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo – Olu, also examined Daini, said that he is architect of modern Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.

“He has built modern edifices for Igbogbo Bayeku LCDA and transformed Igbogbo/Bayeku with innovation. He emerged as one of the best chairmen in the country despite administering a rural council.

“He has laid a very good foundation in the last eight years,” he added.

Sen. Comfort Olafare, Deputy State Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), commended the organisers of the forum where Daini is sitting to listen to people talk about his impacts and appreciated him for his support.

She said that the council boss encouraged her to run for the position of the President of Igbogbo Students’ Union and also created an office for her to work for him and develop her.

Comfort concluded that he has raised the bar and that Igbogbo/Bayeku will miss him.

Other speakers that spoke also commended his impacts and wished well in his future endeavours.

Adeleke Bakare, a prominent youth leader in Igbogbo, Comrade Abukari Asoro, Vice Chairman, NYCN Lagos East, Coordinators and officials of NYCN across the six councils in Ikorodu Division among others.
